I have always loved sea turtles. They are fascinating creatures with long life spans. From the moment they hatch, they defy all odds when they make their journey to the ocean. Only a very small percentage of the eggs that hatch even make it to adulthood and of those, the number of turtles that are female is even smaller. It takes three years for the female to mature to egg laying age and when she does, she returns to the beach on which she hatched to create her own nest so that the cycle can begin again.
When walking on the beach, I noticed how much trash ends up littering our coastlines. This trash is not only unpleasant to look at but it is also harmful to turtles and other creatures who call our oceans and our beaches home.
My mission is to create a frenzy of people who are as passionate about cleaning our beaches as I am. If everyone would pick up a bag full of trash every time they visit the beach we could make a huge difference. Together, we could clean the beaches of our world.
